Books.

While perusing my reading material you may be struck by the fact that a lot of these books were popular years ago. Before judging me too harshly remember that I've been in grad school for the past 3.5 years and have not had any time for pleasureable reading. I have a list of "books to read" pinned to my bulletin board in my office and I am currently working my way through that list.

Book One:

The Nanny Diaries - Emma McLaughlin & Nicola Kraus

In a nutshell - This college girl signs up to work as a nanny for a rich NYC couple.

Eh, this was just ok. It was fine for like a beach read or something because it didn't require too much thinking. It didn't really discuss the relationship between the main Nanny character (named Nanny? totally weird) and the dude she just magically starts dating. Its like they meet in an elevator and then they're long distance dating. Actually, all the relationships between the characters are just like that. The main character kid hates her at first and then he totally loves her without any explanation as to how that relationship develops. In short; not riveting.

I also didn't see the movie at all.

Book Two:

The Department of Lost and Found - Allison Winn Scotch

In a nutshell - This ice queen political aide gets breast cancer and figures out why she's such a mess during her chemo rounds.

This was pretty good. I could relate to the girl realizing that she's an ice queen because sometimes I believe I was born without a heart just like the tin man. Also, the story is pretty interesting. I stayed up late to finish this book. I suppose this is a good sign.

Book Three:

Hissy Fit - Mary Kay Andrews

In a nutshell - This girl finds her fiancee porking her maid of honor during the rehearsal dinner.

I always enjoy this author and this was no exception. It was a fun read. And the main character is an interior decorator and now I'm doing a bunch of home projects. Did this book inspire me to get on it? Maybe.

I read The Nanny Diaries years ago and wasn't a massive fan of it either. I would kinda like to see the movie though, despite hating S-Jo.

Never read the other two books, but they sound good!
